Named one of People Magazine’s “Ones to Watch,” award winning actor, writer, and producer Kathleen Rose Perkins has made a lasting impression on audiences worldwide by bringing both complex and powerful characters to life on screen.
Perkins is set to recur in the first season of Showtime’s anticipated prequel “Dexter: Original Sin”. Prior to which she starred for two seasons in Disney+’s comedy reboot “Doogie Kamealoha, MD” from “Fresh Off The Boat” alumna Kourtney Kang.
Perkins is perhaps best known for her starring role on Showtime’s critically acclaimed series “Episodes” opposite Matt LeBlanc. Created by David Crane (“Friends”) and Jeffrey Klarik (“Mad About You”), critics praised the series as smart, funny, and deliciously painful to watch. For five seasons Perkins captivated viewers as Carol Rance, the perennial second-in-command at the network who despite her self-destructive tendencies is actually decent at her job, and there is a human being buried inside her Hollywood exterior.
Perkins also starred in Netflix’s critically acclaimed coming of age series, “I Am Not Okay with This” opposite Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff. Created by Jonathan Entwistle and Christy Hall, the series follows a teenage girl, Sydney (Lillis) navigating the trials and tribulations of high school while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers that are beginning to awaken within her.
Additional television credits include recurring roles on “Big Shot”, from producer David E. Kelley, FX’s “You’re the Worst”, FX’s “American Horror Story,” ABC’s “Fresh off the Boat,” “Single Parents,” and “American Housewife,” USA’s “Colony,” CBS’ “Code Black” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” FOX’s “Til Death”, and the British Channel 4 series “Ballot Monkeys.”
Aside from her work in TV, Perkins has also made her mark in film with a starring in Nico Sabenorio’s drama “Juveniles,” opposite Stephen Moyer, where she portrays a single mother trying to raise her family in challenging circumstances while facing her past. Perkins appeared in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” (Twentieth Century Fox Films) as Shawna Kelly, opposite Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Additional film credits for Perkins include appearing in the Duplass Brothers’ “The Skeleton Twins” opposite Kristen Wiig, and “Paradise,” Diablo Cody’s directorial debut alongside Julianne Hough, Octavia Spencer, and Holly Hunter. Additionally, she had a nice role in Nicole Holofcener’s “Enough Said” with Julia Louis Dreyfus and James Gandolfini. In 2012, Perkins starred in “The Pact” (2012 Sundance Film Festival Selection) and “Cowgirls n’ Angels” opposite James Cromwell.
Perkins also has a love for work behind the camera, serving as Executive Producer for the indie film “The Better Half” directed by Michael Winnick. On the writing front she wrote and starred in the award winning short “Last Night”. She penned a half-hour pilot entitled “On Her Guard” which was bought by A&E Studios and TNT Network. And more recently she sold her pilot “Fobu” to Universal Television.
Born in Mt. Clemens and raised in New Baltimore, Michigan, Perkins made the move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry upon graduating from Western Michigan University. With a degree in Musical Arts in tow, Perkins’ quick wit, gracious candor, and undeniable talent was infectious with casting directors and decision makers in the business. When she isn’t on set you can find Perkins in nature, traveling through the national parks across the US, and she is a fourth-degree master of Tae Kwon Do.
Perkins currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
