Jonny Coyne is set to appear in Lucas Film & Disney’s upcoming feature THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU, directed by Jon Favreau. He reprises his role from the original series, upon which the film is based.
Jonny previously co-starred in Netflix’s Oscar nominated feature MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM, starring opposite Viola Davis & Chadwick Boseman, for which he received a SAG Ensemble Award nomination. He appeared in the Apple Original Films thriller THE FAMILY PLAN, opposite Mark Wahlburg; as well as Legendary’s remake of THE TOXIC AVENGER, directed by Macon Blair.
Jonny’s other feature work includes roles alongside Jon Hamm & Rosamund Pike in Brad Anderson’s political thriller BEIRUT; Dan Gilroy’s Oscar-nominated thriller NIGHTCRAWLER; a flashy role opposite Sean Penn in GANGSTER SQUAD (directed by Ruben Fleisher); and a role in Todd Phillips’ THE HANGOVER 3 where Jonny hit the road with the wolf pack and John Goodman in the role of “Hector”.
In television, Jonny recurred in Disney+’s hit series THE MANDALORIAN, as well as Apple TV+ period drama FOR ALL MANKIND. He had a season-long arc on NBC’s drama THE BLACKLIST, in which he went head-to-head with James Spader’s character. Jonny was a Series Regular in JJ Abrams’ FOX series ALCATRAZ; he recurred on PREACHER (playing the iconic character “Allfather” from the original comic book series), as well as MOM (CBS) and TURN (AMC). Jonny has dual citizenship – US and England.
