Featured in Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood and Hollywood Reporter’s Next Big Thing, Lukita Maxwell currently stars in Apple TV+’s hit comedy series SHRINKING, written & produced by Jason Segel and TED LASSO’s Bill Lawrence & Brett Goldstein. She stars alongside an amazing cast including Emmy nominee Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Emmy nominee Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie and Christa Miller.
In film, Lukita stars opposite John Cho and Katherine Waterston in Sony & Blumhouse’s thriller AFRAID, from writer & director Chris Weitz. She also appears in FilmNation’s THE YOUNG WIFE from director Tayarisha Poe, alongside Aya Cash, Kiersey Clemons, Kelly Marie Tran, and Connor Pablo. Lukita also stars Jared Isaac’s independent coming of age love story AUTUMN SUMMER, opposite Mark McKenna.
Previous work includes a Series Regular role in the HBO Max series “Genera+ion” from creators Zelda & Daniel Barnz. Executive produced by the Golden Globe winning creative force Lena Dunham along with Ben Barnz, the show followed the lives of modern teenagers as they grapple with self-identity and acceptance in the digital age. The group’s exploration of modern sexuality deeply tests entrenched beliefs about life, love and the nature of family in their conservative community. Prior to that, Lukita recurred on the first season of ABC’s comedy SPEECHLESS.
Lukita is also working behind the camera, Producing and starring in the short film MĀNOA PARK, her second collaboration with director Emily May Jampel. which had its world premiere at Aspen ShortsFest. She also worked with Emily on the short film LUCKY FISH, which received the Young Cineastes Award at Palm Springs International Film Festival as well as the Audience Award, Best American Short Film at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival.
Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Lukita began her career on stage at a very young age in the Tony Award winning Utah Shakespeare Festival, where she won their annual competition performing a monologue from the classic play Henry VI. On her most recent hiatus, Lukita returned to her theatre roots studying Shakespeare at RADA in London.
